Convention Workshop Videos Available
workshopUSMS conducted three workshops at this year’s USAS convention. You can find videos of these workshops on our convention videos page.
Club Registration
RegisterThe club renewal process is underway. All clubs that were registered in 2011 have been sent an email containing a customized renewal link. The link allows the club to renew online with a Visa or MasterCard.

The goal is to have all clubs renewed by October 31. Members can begin registering for 2012 the following day, November 1. If a club has not renewed its membership for 2012, members will not be able to join that club during the registration process.

The LMSC registrars should be creating their paper registration forms and setting their LMSC fees in the registration software. The registration form template can be found in the USMS Guide to Operations registration section.

The National Office will begin sending renewal reminders to all 2011 members on November 1, per the membership retention plan schedule. The registrars are encouraged to send additional communications to their members as they see fit.

Once again, USMS will be offering sponsor discounts to all members who register for 2012 by December 31. Eight sponsors will be participating this year. Members will receive coupon codes in their registration receipts.
Long Course Meter Top 10 Submissions
Top 10The deadline for LCM Top 10 tabulations including those for relays are due to Mary Beth Windrath, National Swims Administrator, by October 20.

Volunteer Profile
House of DelegatesAnother convention is in the books and there is no doubt that its success is due to the energy, dedication, and passion of YOU, one of the more than 240 delegates in attendance.

Whether you are a delegate representing your LMSC or are appointed because of your work at the national level, you take on the responsibility of being well-informed, so you are able to make the best decision for our membership when casting your votes for our leadership, rules or legislation.

Many of you are club and LMSC volunteers as well as national committee members. You donate your time for committee work during the year, participating in conference calls, task forces and projects. Many use your personal vacation time and, depending on the stipend, assume some of the convention expenses yourselves.

You attend the IMSHOF Induction Ceremony and USAS Awards banquet to honor those from USMS and the other NGBs who are the best of the best. You swim at morning coached workouts, participate in workshops, network in the hospitality suite and bring ideas back to your clubs and LMSCs.

A special thank you to all of you. U.S. Masters Swimming would not be the organization it is today without you!

Message from the new USMS President

September 29, 2011

Message from USMS President Nadine Day
Dear Michael,

The club renewal window for 2012 opens on October 1. It is our goal to have all clubs renew on time, which means between October 1 and October 31. Individual member renewal opens November 1 and last year we had more than 20,000 members renew in November and December.

If a club is not renewed by October 31, and individual members attempt to renew their membership starting on November 1, they will renew unattached, renew with the wrong club, creating extra work for your registrar or, worst case, not renew at all because they cannot find their club in the drop-down menu.

Our membership coordinator Anna Lea Matysek will be sending a customized club renewal link to all 743 clubs on October 1, and our club and coach development coordinators, Mel Goldstein, Susan Ingraham and Lisa Dahl, will be reaching out to all USMS clubs, encouraging ontime club renewal and offering the services of USMS and your LMSC.

We wanted you to be aware of this outreach and assure you that we will keep you updated on communication and requests from local clubs so we can together provide assistance.

Swimming for Life,
Nadine Day
