End of Year Practice and January Events

Here is the info you have all been waiting for.
Time to start getting in shape for the Ground Hog Meet which is one month from yesterday,.. January 29, 2012.

A good opportunity is at our last Masters Practice of the year…tomorrow, Saturday at the Westport Y from 11 AM till 12:30.
Come and get ready for New Year’s eve.

Training for a big swim? Need to get back into shape? Looking for competition? We have the event that will raise the bar: the 2012 January Jam begins on 3 days!

Starting January 1st participants will track their yardage for the entire month to see who can “jam” the most yards into 31 days. The January Jam was created to promote fitness through swimming while raising money for the Dave Parcells MS Fund.

In 2007, Dave Parcells passed away suddenly at the age of 49 while doing what he loved: swimming the Tampa Bay marathon. Just six months before he died, Dave was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). This event is a tribute to Dave and to support the MS patients and their families who are faced with expenses not covered by insurance as they undergo treatment for MS.

So get ready!

Josh and Dean of Dynoswim have generously donated their expertise and website to host the January Jam event. We encourage you to visit www.dynoswim.com where you will find workouts to suit your goals and abilities, enabling you to track your distance, and even share your workouts with other swimmers.

The entry fee is $35 (US$). 100% of all collected entrance and sponsorship fees will benefit the Dave Parcells MS Fund, which supports MS patients and families with expenses not covered by insurance as they undergo treatment. Participants are encouraged to seek sponsorship for underserved patients and families. Please remember our friends whom we have lost to MS and those currently battling it.
